Welcome to Pudding & Pie

39-43, Wayfarers Arcade, Southport PR8 1NT, United Kingdom

General Info

Tucked away in the charming Wayfarers Arcade, Pudding & Pie feels like one of those café discoveries you want to keep to yourself-but can’t. From the moment you step inside, there’s a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in, whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or lingering over coffee.

The menu strikes a nice balance between comfort food and lighter options. On my visit, the Coffee Cake immediately stood out-soft, slightly sweet, and perfectly paired with their great coffee, which truly lives up to the reputation mentioned in many reviews. If you’re leaning toward something savory, the Omelette is a solid choice, cooked just right and filling without being heavy. Meanwhile, the Cheese & Onion Toastie delivers that classic café satisfaction, crispy on the outside and rich on the inside.

What really impressed me was how the café caters to different preferences. You’ll find healthy options alongside indulgent treats, so it works whether you’re in the mood for something light or craving a proper comfort meal. The Fish and Chips, for example, is hearty and well-prepared-crispy, golden, and exactly what you’d hope for in a British café setting.

Of course, no visit to Pudding & Pie feels complete without trying one of their desserts. The Hot Chocolate with Cream and Marshmallows is a standout. It’s rich, warming, and just the right level of indulgent-perfect for a rainy afternoon in Southport. Pair that with a slice of cake, and you’ve got a little moment worth slowing down for.

Service-wise, the café keeps things simple and convenient. Takeout is available if you’re on the move, and they accept debit cards, which makes the whole experience smooth and hassle-free. The staff are friendly without being overbearing, adding to that easygoing vibe that makes you want to return.

Overall, Pudding & Pie feels like more than just another location to grab food-it’s a place where the menu, atmosphere, and service come together naturally. Whether you’re exploring Southport or just looking for a reliable café with great dessert and coffee, this spot quietly earns its place among the local favorites.

“ Lovely hidden gem down the peaceful (secret) far end of Wayfarers Arcade in Southport. Best value Dirty Fries on Lord Street and top class fresh desserts. Nice to see Chef Daniel and Jordan take so much pride in their work, they really made me feel valued and spoilt. God bless em. FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ”

“ Found this place by chance in Wayfairers Arcade. Lovely restaurant/cafe, you can sit out in the arcade or inside. The service was excellent, very quick. The food was amazing I had a burger and my mum had a prawn sandwich. Very reasonably priced too. I would highly recommend. Thanks x ”

“ My partner and I have been here probably 8 - 10 times over recent months. coffee and cake are nice but feel the prices are creeping up from our first visit that does not match the quality anymore. Thursday (11 December) paid nearly £20 for it (and that apparently is with 10% off with a voucher) As I said , nice place but ime not sure the prices are worth it visiting now when places like Costa for a coffee / cake are £14 ish. ”

“ Wonderful cafe run by wonderful staff. All very friendly, polite and plenty of genuine smiles. Good selection of snacks for vegetarians as well as none. The only draw back is the lift music from the early 80s. Dreadful then, dreadful now. Clean toilets. I would highly recommend. ”

“ We popped into Pudding and Pie for a spot of lunch (there were three of us grown-ups). It's a shame to see the arcade it's housed in looking a bit worse for wear, but fear not, the cafe itself was lively and buzzing. The food was decent and the service was good too. However, the cafe could do with a bit of sprucing up and the lavatories, while clean, were not the most pleasant. Despite having three loo roll holders, there wasn't a scrap of toilet paper in sight! Overall, it was a jolly good experience and we would certainly recommend giving Pudding and Pie a visit. Just don't forget to bring your own bog roll! ”

“ Lovely little place for a quick brew and a homemade cake. ”

“ A warm and genuine welcome awaits, set within the timeline elegance of the Wayfarers Arcade in Southport. Accessible and spacious, the varied and delicious menu is assured of satisfying even the most rumbling of tums. Most reasonably priced the food is all freshly prepared in the in house kitchen. We have visited many times and return time and time again to be greeted by consistently lovely memorable dishes. Highly recommended. ”
